Oaxaca city hotels

We love a deep dive, and have spent hours researching the hotel scene in Oaxaca City. There are quite literally hundreds of choices, and after reading tons of reviews, and checking out each of these hotels in person, we are confident we’ve found hotels that fit a variety of budgets and preferences to meet your needs. Each hotel has locking entrances that require key or card access, and each offer daily breakfast. All of the hotels are located within Centro, and are a short walk to the heart of the action, as well as walkable to to the welcome dinner, wedding ceremony and reception, and post-wedding brunch.

The hotels listed are blocked for guests to book until November 20, then the hotels will open to the public and rates will no longer be discounted. We highly recommend booking your rooms before November 20 to secure your preferred rooms and to receive discounted rates.

You will either need to call or email the hotels directly in order to book under our blocks. Since the hotels are blocked off for our guests, attempting to book online through hotel websites will show that the hotels are unavailable. Specific discount codes are listed under each hotel on this page.

Grana

BnB

Grana, a hotel named after the little bugs that grow on prickly pear cacti, and used to make beautiful red dyes for fabrics, is a Michelin Star-rated hotel, and voted a top Oaxacan hotel by Travel and Leisure. It is one of the most photographed locations in Oaxaca, and for good reason, too. The 18th century hacienda-style property features sunny rooms decorated with Oaxacan textiles and art. The hotel focuses on family-style hospitality, especially when it comes to food and drink. The daily breakfast menu rotates and offers phenomenal traditional Oaxacan selections, fresh fruit and juices, and delicious coffee drinks. You can rent bikes from the front desk if you’d like two wheels to help you explore. Rooms offer AC, robes, slippers, hats and bags to use in town, cozy beds, and the hotel boasts a huge variety of plants (with identification tags), especially cacti, to familiarize you with native Oaxacan species. With the sunrise, you can take a yoga class on the roof, or read in the library, or enjoy an evening beverage in the hammocks next to the rooftop bar. Grana is in the heart of the action in Centro, and a truly magical spot for botanical enthusiasts. An unforgettable stay awaits those lucky enough to snag a room at Grana.

To book, contact Grana via email or WhatsApp and tell them you’re under the Kaufman block.

This hotel is nearly fully booked, with one remaining room. This room is a shared double room on the ground floor and is booked under one reservation. There are two separate rooms connected by a locking internal door. Each room has its own private entrance, a queen bed, and its own private bathroom. Ideal for two couples who know each other. This room is only available from 2/18-2/21, and you will have to check out on Saturday.

This hotel will be party central. Please, no kiddos.
